Acura RDX Earns Top Safety Rating Awards
The 2019 Acura RDX is already breaking sales records from the company, a sign that its redesign has hit the mark for those who want more out of the SUV. One accomplishment that Acura has made that’s going a little bit under the radar, by comparison, is its safety success. The IIHS recently awarded the 2019 Acura RDX a Top Safety Pick following an extensive series of testing.
In order to get this top safety rating, a vehicle needs to fulfill a key set of requirements, including earning a Good rating on roof strength, head restraints, side impact, driver’s side front overlap impact, and moderate front overlap. Acceptable or Good ratings on passenger’s side small overlap impact, Superior ratings on the front crash prevention test, and a Good rating on the available headlight options are also necessary.
So, how did the RDX do? It scored Good on the crash tests and Superior in front crash prevention, tested for crashes at 12 mph and 25 mph. One interesting twist is that the base LED headlights on the 2019 RDX outperformed its optional adaptable counterparts. The base headlights were rated Good while the others were rated only Acceptable. Note that along with these base features, the Acura 2019 RDX also has the AcuraWatch safety suite of features, including adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, automatic high beams, and more.
A top-ranked car for safety is essential for people looking to take care of their safety and that of their family, the Acura RDX included.
