Acura MDX Towing Capacity Guide
If you’re in the market for a luxury SUV that makes no sacrifices on proven performance capabilities, it’s no surprise that the Acura MDX has caught your eye. Drivers will have their choice of either a 3.5-Liter V6 producing 290 horsepower or an optional 3.0-Liter Turbocharged DOHV V6 which delivers 355 horsepower (MDX Type S models). You can also select from a standard front-wheel drive variant or an available SH-AWD system for maximum control in all types of weather conditions. Are you curious how these impressive powertrains perform when towing your biggest toys along for your next trip? Joe Rizza Acura has assembled this informative Acura MDX Towing Guide to provide you with the answers to your questions.
How Much Can the Acura MDX Tow?
As we’ve already mentioned, the MDX gives drivers their choice of front-wheel drive or capable SH-AWD. Front-wheel drive configurations have a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. When equipped with all-wheel drive, the maximum towing capacity of the MDX is increased to an impressive 5,000 pounds. SH-AWD comes standard with both the A-Spec® Package and Advance Package along with both Type S variants and is optional on other trims as well. You’ll have enough muscle to tow a small boat or a pair of jet skis to the lake for a weekend getaway. Thanks to its standard 10-speed automatic transmission — you’ll always be in the sweet spot of the powerband to maximize towing capability.Driver Assistance for Safer Towing
